Sumo:Tips to enjoy without ticket at KOKUGICAN venue

Tickets are already sold out

Tokyo tournament will be held from 13th to 27th in May 2018.

But tickets are sold out except 100 or 200 seats of "today`s seat"

But you could enjoy something at around Kokugikan venue without tickets.

Here are my tips.

1, 2 to 3pm: At Kokugican venue entrance

Top 30 or 40  ranking wrestler enter the venue on foot.(Top 3 to 5  ranking wrestler enter by car) So you can easily see wrestlers with Japanese traditional cloths. But you could not get their autograph or talk. The only thing you could do is photography. You could see them really close. They are big with nunique traditional hair style. If you like Sumo, I am sure you can enjoy it. It is worth to try.

2, 3 to 4pm : Edo Tokyo Museum

It is 5 minutes walk from the venue. It is a landmark unique big building. It cost you US$ 6 to see. Open 9:30 to 17:30. Monday closed. The permanent exhibition, showcasing original objects and replicas, offers visitors a journey of life style of Edo era (1603 to 1868 ).

3,4or 6 pm : Restaurants with Sumo ring

Just in front of Japan railway (JR) "Ryogoku station", there is a newly renovated 2nd story old buidling. It is on the way to the KOKUGIKAN venue,so you can't miss it.

In that building, there is a real "Sumo ring" a circle of rice-straw bales 4.5m in diameter.

You could not get in the ring, just to see. It is just for taking picture. There are about 5 different restaurants there, like Sushi, Sashimi, Soba=noodle and typical izakaya. Most of them cost you US$ 15 to 30 per person for dinner. If you enjoy beer or sake, then you need to add US$10 to 30 or more. I think they are resonable price.
